Technical Assistant

Competitive salary (depends on experience) and benefits package

We are looking for an organised and methodical Technical Assistant to join our expanding R&D team.

Enkos Developments is a consultancy that specialises in designing bespoke skincare and haircare formulations for the beauty and personal care markets. We work closely with our clients to understand their specific requirements and help them create products that stand out from the crowd, and we provide guidance and support throughout the product development process.

Our technical knowledge and creative thinking enable us to develop high quality formulations that are safe, stable, effective and that delight consumers. Our formulations have won over 40 awards!

We are a hard working team that is very active within the beauty industry, and we constantly have new ideas that we would like to explore further. We are therefore looking for a Technical Assistant to work with and support our Innovation Manager across a variety of exciting projects.

We are a small, supportive team of highly technical and creative chemists who trust and help each other, and enjoy celebrating together. We pride ourselves on being conscientious and having clear, open communication within the team – we therefore expect the successful candidate to be like-minded.

The level of responsibility and independence within this role can be adapted to suit the skills and experience of the successful candidate, though overall key tasks will include:

  • Making batches of trial skincare and haircare formulations in the lab and recording accurate observations.

  • Discussing results and planning next steps with the Innovation Manager.

  • Measuring specifications of formulations made in the lab.

  • Trying and evaluating interesting technologies (raw materials and formulations) in the lab.

  • Writing up results of various research projects to share with the R&D team.

  • Gathering and reviewing technical documents relating to raw materials and formulations.

  • Communicating clearly and openly with all colleagues.

The type of person who will enjoy this role is likely to enjoy cooking and/or baking on a regular basis. This job role will involve a lot of lab work, so candidates must feel comfortable being on their feet for several hours at a time.

Previous experience in a commercial laboratory or medical setting, and/or experience within the cosmetics industry would be beneficial. We are open to candidates with or without a science degree (we can provide on-the-job training that is tailored to the successful candidate’s background), but they must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Enjoys working on a variety of tasks, both on their feet (in the lab) and at their desk (in the office).

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills – eager to work closely with colleagues in a trusting environment.

  • Highly organised and likes to keep things tidy.

  • Approaches work with a very clear, methodical mindset.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Reliable and diligent – enjoys taking responsibility for their own work and completing it to a high standard.

  • Able to plan work effectively to meet deadlines but also able to adapt quickly when priorities change.

  • Appreciates working in a fast-paced environment as part of a small team where every person matters.

  • Confident in learning new techniques and working with machinery (training will be provided).

  • Comfortable and experienced with using computers, particularly Microsoft Office.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Has the right to work in the UK.

If you are looking for a role where you can quickly become an important member of a supportive and friendly team, then we want to hear from you!

This opportunity is for a full-time, permanent role that will be based on-site at our modern laboratory and office in Leatherhead.

If you would like to apply, then please send your CV and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role to recruitment@enkosdevelopments.com.
